Breton Kennels have
been registered with the Victorian Canine Association for 17 years. I am a
licensed Conformation Judge able to Judge Group 6 at Championship Shows any
where in the world. I have a keen interest in ALL of the mastiff breeds
exclusively.

I undertook my judging carer to in part to help raise the level of
awareness of the mastiff breeds within the Utility Group and believe that the
quality of many of the mastiff breeds within Australia is at a very high level
and I hope to see the day where the mastiff breeds are not just line fillers for
the group judging but serious contenders for it.

Our
property is in a pleasant part
of semi rural Victoria a little over 50 kilo meters
past the Melbourne and less than 10 kilo meters from
our canine association indoor/outdoor showing venue
K.C.C. Park, this enables me to show our dogs easily
during summer when I can run them home immediately
after being shown. With the freeway close by I can
access the Melbourne Show venue within 45 minutes
driving. I also travel with our dogs to the
Canberra, Adelaide and Sydney Royal Agricultural
Shows. Our dogs have their own indoor kennel area
which attached to our house, serving washing and
grooming area. It has a non slip flooring,
insulation,
heating and cooling. They spend much of their time
in here with the TV going and it is particularly
useful area for them for long periods of inclement
weather. I have a separate area well away from this
that I use for Kennelling heat bitches and use as
the whelping room. totally away from the noise and
activity of the remainder of the dogs near the
house.
We also have
smaller, concreted, non slip, out door day kennel yards. These we find great for
puppies or bitches in season. They are small so only suitable for confinement
for small durations of time. We don't often use these smaller yards but they are
handy to have for the odd occasions.
Our Pyres are either outside in the big
paddock runs or inside and asleep in their night yards. Space assists the
development of the mastiff breeds.... especially the Pyrenean mastiff. I have
found so far that the larger the area the dog has to itself, the better the
development structurally. We are fortunate enough to have the acreage to
accommodate our giants. Our outside exercise yards are 50 meters X 13 and the
Pyres especially make full use of the space and the high ground in the form of a
mound. All mastiff breeds like a higher vantage point.

There
are photos of our pyres enjoying these yards. We are
fortunate to have bred and owned some of Australia's
most well known, and successful mastiffs. Mainly in
"Mike" Ch Breton Belgae Tallisman, who is the only
mastiff to date with FOUR Best Exhibit In Specialty
Shows at Championship Level. Four Mastiff Of The
Year Awards. As well as over 700 challenge points
and his son "Bomber" Ch Breton Dael Larceny.

We have taken out
these major shows with Mastiffs and Pyrenean Mastiffs that we bred ourselves at
Breton.

We are currently
getting much enjoyment from exhibiting our Pyrenean Mastiffs. We are fortunate
to have Australian Champion Breton Grande Y Aleman (MANDER.) co owned with Karen
Docherty in N.S.W having being campaigned successfully there with many group
awards there at metropolitan championship shows, Mander is now in Q.L.D with
Vicki Ross and he has already won Intermediate In Show awards up there in a very
short time of being exhibited.

There is also Australian Champion Breton Gemelo
Del Chicca (CHLOE.) who is co owned with Mrs. Kim Leong in Victoria. Chloe is
used in obedience training demonstrations and to teach obedience instructors,
and also as a pet educator dog in Victorian primary schools. There are also the
dogs I am currently campaign throughout Victoria and Australia. Recently
Australian Champion Breton Grande Y Grato.

(PRIMO) was awarded Runner Up To Best
Exhibit In Show At The Utility Dog Championship Show under the NZ Pyrenean
Mountain Dog Specialist Mrs. A Roth. There is Australian Champion Breton Gemelo
Los Valle (Greta.) who Has five royal CCs to her credit and is also working
successfully in Victorian primary Schools as a Pet Educator Dog. Breton Hermoso
Ejemplo (Fuke.) and Australian Champion Breton Hembra Gamberra (Rainbow.) are
our youngsters sired by our Italian Import, Australian Champion Murtois Quincy
For Breton. Fluke has just commenced his work in Victorian Primary Schools as an
Educator Dog and Rainbow has just finished her title and comes to work with me
when I go into Feed and Produce stores as a Pet Nutrition Advisor for Purina,
she very much enjoys being admired by everyone who meets her.
Our dogs have been
featured on Totally Wild, Creature Features, and our Italian Import Male Murtois
Quincy For Breton was featured on stage for the safety talk with Dr Harry Cooper
at the Victorian Pet and Animal Expo. Our pyrenean Mastiffs have featured on the
Purina stand on display at both Sydney royals and most importantly of the
fourteen Pyrenean Mastiffs in Australia, eight were tested for, and seven having
successfully passed the stringent temperament testing required for the
Department Of Primary Industries Temperament Test enabling them to work in
Victorian Primary Schools .

Initially I was using Bonnie dry
food with much success with this breed because it has a low level of fat and
protein that is tolerable to the digestive system of this particular breed.
Initially when using a higher Fat and Protein ratio food I had many problems. i
now exclusively feed Purina Pro Plan super Premium complete dry dog food. I use
the Sensitive Stomach formula this is Salmon based with brewers rice, I
alternate between this and Pro Plan Adult which has a lower fat protein ratio.
All of the Pro Plan range has DEA and glucosamine added. My dogs are thriving on
this combination their coats look and feel fantastic there is more density to
the undercoat and the dogs look really clean and white on this food, also they
produce far less stools than before and there is no sour smell that there used
to be before. I feed use and recommend Purina Pro Plan.
